Catherine Richmond

Research Assistant

Catherine is a Research Assistant in the Evidence Synthesis Group, working within the Innovation Observatory aligned to the Information Research Programme.  

Catherine’s primary area of expertise is literature searching and information management for research projects, particularly systematic reviews, encompassing both bibliographic database and grey literature searching.  She contributes to a wide range of research projects including the Older People & Frailty Policy Research Unit, the Data Science & AI Programme’s development of AI tools to detect, monitor and report on new health innovations and the Newcastle NICE External Assessment Centre. 

A qualified radiographer, she has a master’s degree in Information and Library management and her experience spans NHS and academic libraries.  

Her research aims to enable better access and management of ever-increasing amounts of information for evidence synthesis projects, using a combination of enhanced literature retrieval methods and artificial intelligence.
