Dr Fiona Pearson

Programme Lead - Insights

Fiona is a Principle Research Associate in the Evidence Synthesis Group and lead of the Innovation Observatory Insights Programme. She is responsible for leading on the capture of intelligence on the attitudes, behaviours and experiences of the public and identifying and quantifying unmet need to drive appropriate health and social care innovation. Her wider Evidence Synthesis Group role sees her giving oversight to numerous research projects and leading teaching on evidence synthesis methods (systematic review and critical appraisal in particular). 

She has over 10 years of experience in academic health research and gained her PhD in Epidemiology in 2012. Fiona has published over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, some of which have informed international governing body guidelines. 

She is particularly interested in how public insight can be captured to identify unmet needs and meaningfully inform appropriate healthcare innovation as well as the evolution of the following evidence synthesis methods: horizon scanning; health technology assessment; rapid review and mapping review.
